HIRED!! I’d just received the call!!
An open-ended invitation to live and work in Los Angeles! Wow! An offer on the table one month before graduating! And not just with any company, the seventh largest advertising agency in the United States! I was part of an elite class of communications majors at a college just outside of New York City.
We’d all been ‘players’ in Fairfield County, even before graduating. We worked on an ad campaign competition for Frito Lay. Famous editors like Richard Stolley of People Weekly would come and speak with us. Some of our classes were helmed by PR execs from General Electric.
I had an exceptional marketing class with a former Senior Vice President of Procter and Gamble. We also had classes with famous movie reviewers like Susan Granger. In fact, not only did she have great connections, it wasn’t unusual to have famous authors like Jonathan Fast or Erica Jong drop by for our Monday evening class.
I was invited to pitch a sample ad for New York City-based Grey Advertising for one of their biggest clients. Members of my class were already serving at local, but prominent editorial desks. My roommate started a major non-profit. One class member would go on to work for NBC, get a ‘guest star role’ on the hit comedy Wings, and later became an entertainment reporter for Hard Copy and Extra.
With “real hugs” across time ANNE AMONG US deals with a very special father and daughter reunion and is “still the only book” about a family miscarriage from a Dad’s perspective. ANNE has earned “four star” reviews on Amazon, Goodreads! The TV and online interviews have been seen by 4 million viewers!
